CALVIN's Info...
I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.
CALVIN's Story...
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our pets based on personality, not breed label.
When Calvin was saved from the euthanasia list, he was in pitiful shape; looked twice his age and suffered from heartworm. Once he recovered from treatment, his true self began to shine through. At about 2 years, Calvin is...well...goofy! He is kind of re-visiting the childhood he likely never had so he is working on his manners but he is catching on. Calvin does not do well with cats or very small dogs and as far as dog companions go, he prefers large breed females. His last foster home had children of all ages and did very well with them.
Calvin was adopted once by an older couple with two dogs, a 5 year old pit bull girl and a 14 year old golden retriever girl, they also had a 6 year old granddaughter that spent most weekends with them. Calving did great, adored the granddaughter, and became best buddies with the 5 year old Pitbull but, the old Golden Retreiver wanted nothing to do with him and peeled her teeth and growled at Calvin constantly, Calving ignored her for a while but after two weeks he eventually got fed up and got into a fight with her, nothing bad, no blood, just noise. Out of commitment to their old dog Calvin was returned.
Being young, Calvin is full of energy and will do better having a doggie companion to burn energy with, but being a high energy furry person who needs a lot of exercise he will do well with someone who likes to play, hike, run and then go home and snuggle. Calvin does well with all doggies large and small, he will play with small doggies, but due to his size the play may get to rough for the little ones and may get hurt, cats and other furry critters are out of the question
Calvin is a great dog and will make a super friend to the right person/family. His adoption fee is $200 and that covers all of his vetting and microchip. If you like to adopt Calvin or foster him call or text Holly at 817-965-5309 or Kelly at 817-296-1427 or Miguel at 817-798-8416.
