Hi, Im looking to get another dog in the next year or so as company and a playmate for my doberman because the jack russel is starting to get a bit too old to keep up with her, I'll be keeping an eye on the local shelters first before looking for a breeder but for now I'm just curious which breeds are the most long lived and have the least amount of health problems, most of them seem to be small breeds or very rare like Australian cattle dogs, I'm looking for medium or larger breeds that will be good watch dogs, barkers / deterrents, and light shedders preferably, also a fairly common breed so they won't be hard to find, right now I'm leaning towards a black labrador since they fit all the criteria but I'd like to hear other opinions? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
